Professor J Martin Hunter


Specialist in international arbitration, since 1967. Served as adviser, advocate,  co-arbitrator, sole arbitrator or presiding arbitrator in several hundreds of cases since approximately 1975. Cases include AAA, CDP, CIETAC, JCAA, ICC, ICDR, LCIA, NAFTA, NAI, SIAC and VIAC arbitrations, as well as arbitrations under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules and other types of ad hoc arbitration. Represented parties in mediations and other ADR procedures. Served as a mediator or conciliator.

Various public lectures, including International Dispute Resolution in the 21st Century: Changes and Challenges, given at Nottingham Trent University (2000); Arbitration in Scotland and England: What can we learn from each other? in the Ronald Bernstein lecture series, given in London 1988 (published by CIArb, 1989); Ethics of the International Arbitrator, given to the Swiss Arbitration Association in Zurich (published in ASA Journal, 1986 Vol. 4).

Numerous articles published in, e.g., ICCA Yearbook Commercial Arbitration, Arbitration International, Journal of International Arbitration, American Review of International Arbitration, International Business Lawyer, Journal of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, New Law Journal, Lloyd’s Maritime and Commercial Law Quarterly, etc.
